Unlike North American baby formula which comes in one stage for ages 0-12 months, European formula comes in several (often 2 or 3) stages for the same time period.
This is because of different European regulations pertaining to formula and minium iron content levels.
In a nutshell - European formula is more age appropriate as it's designed for the baby's maturing body and digestive system. As the stage goes up, it typically contains:
- More starch (for creaminess and more filling)
- More fats
- More Iron
- More nutrient content
