Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions below
Does HiPP Ready-to-Feed formula contain the same ingredients as the powdered version?
Almost identical, but with one key technical difference: Starch. While many HiPP German powdered stages contain mild organic starch for satiety, the HiPP RTF versions (specifically Dutch and German Stage PRE/1) are typically starch-free. This is to ensure the liquid remains a consistent, smooth viscosity without settling. Both versions utilize the same high-quality organic lactose, essential fatty acids (DHA/ARA), and vitamins, ensuring your baby gets premium nutrition regardless of the format.
Is HiPP Ready-to-Feed formula "more sterile" than prepared powder?
Yes. HiPP RTF undergoes a specialized UHT (Ultra-High Temperature) flash-pasteurization process and is sealed in a vacuum-protected environment, making it commercially sterile. Powdered formula, by its nature, cannot be made completely sterile during manufacturing. For newborns, premature infants, or those with compromised immune systems, HiPP RTF is the gold standard recommended by many European pediatricians to eliminate the risk of waterborne or powder-borne bacteria.
Can I use HiPP RTF for "Top-Opping" while breastfeeding?
HiPP RTF is arguably the best "supplemental" formula on the market. Because it is pre-mixed to the exact caloric density required (66−68 kcal per 100ml), there is no risk of "mixing errors" that can cause constipation or dehydration. The 200ml bottles are perfect for "top-offs" after breastfeeding sessions, ensuring your baby receives a consistent nutrient profile that mimics the easy digestibility of breast milk without the hassle of measuring scoops.
Why is HiPP RTF sold in plastic bottles instead of glass?
HiPP uses high-quality, BPA-free, food-grade plastic (specifically Polypropylene) for their RTF bottles. This material is chosen for its ability to withstand the UHT sterilization process without leaching chemicals. While glass is often preferred for storage, it is heavy and poses a breakage risk during international shipping from Europe to Canada/US. These bottles are 100% recyclable and designed to protect the delicate Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids from light degradation.
How long does a HiPP RTF bottle last once opened?
An opened, capped bottle can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 to 48 hours (refer to the specific label on your German vs. Dutch bottle). Always store it in the main body of the fridge, not the door, to ensure it stays at a constant 4 ∘ C (40 ∘ F).
